* At least 9 people were killed when they were swept away in a flash flood at a swimming hole in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. Among those killed are 5 children, including a 2-year-old girl. One person remains missing and is feared to have died.

* Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau, who is best remembered for his roles in TV series such as "Mission: Impossible" and "Space: 1999," as well as movies such as "Tucker" and "Ed Wood," has died at age 89. * The U.S. intelligence community believes the United Arab Emirates orchestrated a hacking incident in May which sparked the diplomatic crisis between Qatar and Gulf countries, according to the Washington Post. The UAE has denied the allegations. (Click here to read more)

* Film director George A. Romero, who is often referred to as the "Father of the Zombie Movie" for movies such as "Night of the Living Dead" and "Dawn of the Dead," has died in Toronto after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was 77 years old. (Click here to read more)

* The U.S. Senate will delay voting on the Republican health care bill until Senator John McCain returns to work after recovering from surgery. Two Republican senators have already expressed their opposition against the bill and McCain's absence would have made it impossible for the bill to advance. (Click here to read more)

* Iran has sentenced a Chinese-American man to 10 years in prison for alleged spying on behalf of the United States. Also on Sunday, President Hassan Rouhani's brother was detained over unspecified financial improprieties.

* Gunmen in Venezuela opened fire on a group of people in the capital Caracas as they waited to vote in an unofficial referendum, killing a woman and injuring three others. The poll, which was organized by the opposition, sought to undermine the government of President Nicolas Maduro.
