Police and other emergency services in Texas are responding to an officer-involved shooting at The Parks at Arlington mall, officials and witnesses say. The mall is on lockdown but it is not being treated as an active shooter situation.

The incident happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Sunday when officers began responding to reports of a shooting at the mall, which is located at S Cooper Street along Interstate 20. It is believed to have happened near the food court.

Witnesses described some panic as people ran from the busy mall, but authorities said there was no active shooter. Police confirmed that an officer-involved shooting had occurred in connection with an unspecified offense. The condition of the suspect is unknown.

"Anyone at the Parks Mall is able to go to their vehicle. The incident is under control," Arlington Police said just before 5 p.m. "The Parks Mall has closed so please avoid the area. Follow instructions from First Responders if inside the mall."

The mall is being evacuated by security and the incident is under control.
