1 dead after shooting on Duncan Ives Drive in Buford, Georgia

Police are investigating at least one shooting in the area of Duncan Ives Drive near Buford, leaving one person dead and a second person injured, Gwinnett County Police say. Only few details were immediately available. (more)

The first incident happened just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday when officers were dispatched to a call of shots being fired in the area of Express Lane, a dead-end road near Duncan Ives Drive. One person was shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

About 3 hours later, just before 7 a.m., officers found another victim near Duncan Ives Drive, off Friendship Road. The victim is deceased. Details about the cause of death were not immediately released, but the death is being treated as a possible homicide.

The scenes are about 5 miles east of the center of Buford, or 11 miles northeast of Lawrenceville.

"I have been told that both locations are relatively close to one another, and the crime scene is quite large," said Michele Pihera, a spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Police Department. Other details about the incidents or a possible suspect were not immediately released.
