 2 yrs | Suicide bomber attacks foreign convoy in Kabul’s diplomatic area, killing 12

              A suicide bomber who detonated his explosives-laden car in Kabul's diplomatic area on Saturday afternoon was targeting a convoy of the NATO-led Resolute Support force, killing at least 12 people. The explosion happened in front of a clinic at about 4:20 p.m. local time, when many civilians were in the area. "We can confirm an attack on a convoy of Resolute Support contracted civilians in Kabul," said U.S. Army Colonel Brian Tribus, a spokesman for Resolute Support. "One Resolute Support contracted civilian was killed in the attack and two others died of wounds as a result of the attack. We are gathering further information." Wahidullah Mayar, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, said at least 12 people, including a foreigner, had been killed in the attack. Another 66 people were injured, including six women and five children.
