Singapore has banned all commercial trade with North Korea, according to a notice sent to traders, making them the second country this year to fully suspend trade amid mounting pressure over North Korea's nuclear program.
S. R. Nathan, who served as the 6th President of Singapore from 1999 through 2011, has died after he suffered a stroke late last month, the prime minister's office has announced. He was 92 years old. (more)

There have been no reports so far that citizens from Singapore have been hurt in the explosions that have devastated the Chinese port city of Tianjin, according to a spokesman for Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
