A meteor was seen along the U.S. East Coast on late Tuesday night, witnesses say. The white streak of light was visible in Washington, D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, and several other states.

It happened at 10:57 p.m. ET on Tuesday when witnesses in multiple states reported seeing a “fireball” in the night sky. Steve Chazin captured the meteor on video while driving near Dulles Airport (watch below).

“Was walking home from gym and saw it fly above my head and thought, omg is that a missile?,” Victor in Washington, D.C. said. Another witness said: “I saw the biggest, brightest one I’ve ever seen about 10-15 minutes ago up here in New Hampshire.”

The meteor appears to have fallen over the Atlantic Ocean. According to witnesses, it was visible in Delaware, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
