Balancing Motherhood, Business, and Wellness: Sarah Bowmar’s Approach to Modern Living
Sarah Bowmar leads a busy personal and professional life. As a certified nutrition specialist, personal trainer, and prenatal and postpartum trainer, she strives to spread positivity for health and fitness practices. From running multiple businesses, such as Bowmar Fitness and Bowmar Nutrition, with her husband, Josh Bowmar, to hosting a candid podcast and several successful YouTube channels, she’s deepened her commitment to wellness through her entrepreneurial pursuits.
In addition to her businesses, she is also a mother to two young children, which keeps her plenty busy. She also enjoys connecting with women on a global scale via social media platforms to provide tips and tricks on leading healthier lives. Motherhood, business, and wellness all come together to make up the fabric of her day-to-day work and life, requiring her to juggle all three with care. She has achieved this unique balancing act by embracing a lifestyle and a mindset that work together to allow her to succeed as a parent, entrepreneur, and wellness advocate.
Knowing Her Goals
One key way that Sarah has struck a careful balance in her life has been through valuable goal-setting. In college, she already had an understanding of what she’d like to accomplish in life, setting her up for both past and present achievements.
In 2011, she completed one major goal, which was graduating from college with both her undergraduate degree and an MBA in marketing. With both degrees in hand, she was able to move into her next phase of life with confidence: competing in fitness competitions for the first time and working at a digital marketing agency. These two pursuits aligned with her passions in marketing and fitness, helping establish her path in business and wellness early on.
By understanding her goals and adjusting them when needed, Sarah has remained ambitious and adaptable. Ambition is an essential tool for any entrepreneur pursuing success in their business and personal life. It fuels the motivation you need in all areas of life, whether you are looking to grow your business, improve your personal health, or be a good parent to your kids.
Building a Community
An online community has played a crucial role in Sarah’s entrepreneurial efforts and her ability to find balance. Through her social media platforms, she has worked to build a community where she can connect directly with women who are looking for advice on healthy living. “My online community has been crucial to me as a fitness enthusiast, parent, and entrepreneur,” she says. “Using social media to build this community has really allowed me to connect with other women who are interested in maintaining healthy lives while pursuing their own goals—whether that’s in their career, personal interests, or beyond.”
A variety of studies have found that community participation helps individuals find social support and a sense of empowerment. For Sarah, her online following gives her a unique space to connect with others interested in fitness and offer them her support—while also finding it herself. Community is more important than ever in the modern world, and she has built one in which both she and her members find great value.
“Building up my online community even helped push me to become an AFPA-certified prenatal and postpartum trainer in 2020,” Sarah shares. “This certification has really allowed me to give women more targeted fitness advice.”
Managing Her Time

Time management has been central to Sarah’s strategy for balancing her demanding lifestyle. Parenting, running multiple businesses, keeping up with her animals, tending to the land she lives on, and maintaining her fitness routine all require significant time efficiency. Her strategies vary for the different areas of her life, but she takes a very realistic approach to them and makes them accessible for anyone who may be looking to her for time management advice.
“Routines are very big for me when it comes to managing my time,” she explains. “This can be difficult at times with two young kids, but I know that they thrive on routine as well.” In the mornings, her routine has to include at least 20 minutes of walking and working. She notes that this helps prep her day for success and often includes collecting eggs, opening the chicken run, and getting her children ready for the day.
By understanding her goals, how to manage her time, and fostering a supportive community, Sarah Bowmar has been able to set herself up for long-term success when it comes to achieving a modern life that she’s happy with. “It can be daunting to try to figure out how to balance all areas of your life,” she says. “But just remember that it is achievable. Your approach may look a little different from mine, and it might not always be a perfect balancing act, but you can do it if you set your mind to it.”
