Reddit down: Popular site suffers brief outage
The social news aggregation and discussion website Reddit went down on Monday night, according to users in multiple countries, but the issues were resolved in about an hour.
The problems began just before 7 p.m. New York time on Monday when users reported problems while trying to reach the website and app. The cause of the outage was not immediately known.
Some users could see the website’s design but content failed to load, saying instead: “Something went wrong. Just don’t panic.” Other users received only an error message, saying: “Our CDN was unable to reach our servers.”
In an update, the Reddit team said the issue had been identified and that a fix was being implemented. “We are monitoring the results,” the team said in an update at 7:45 p.m., when the website appeared to be back to normal.
Reddit, which was founded in June 2005, ranks as the 7th most-visited website in the U.S. and the 19th most-visited in the world.
